This morning during community worship, we reflected on the topic of service in conjunction with the account of Jesus washing his disciple’s feet (John 13:1-17). If you would like to read through the morning message, feel free to click the following link: The Jesus Pattern. Also take some time this week to reflect on the following thoughts and questions.
- Jesus embodied a lifestyle of service that was rooted in love and humility. In addition to John 13 and Philippians 2, what other scripture passages come to mind that focus our attention on these themes?
- Which is harder for you, giving or receiving? Why? What are ways that you can give more? What are ways that you can do better at receiving?
- A major theme throughout Scripture is that God’s people are blessed so that they can be a blessing to others. In what ways are you blessed? In what ways are you a blessing?
- What are some practical ways that you can embody Jesus’ way of service in your own life?
My prayer once again is that this isn’t simply a thought exercise, but rather is inspiration for practicing the way of love, humility, and service that Jesus modeled for us.
Peace, Phil
